Ship and Equipment design
| SHIP DESIGN At Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam this stands for creativity and the ability to understand and translate the client's wishes into a good design. We gladly support dredging and offshore contractors, ship owners and shipyards in the development of a new vessel, an innovative conversion or a special piece of equipment. Incorporating our client's demands and combining these with our experience, we are able to design a vessel that fulfils its aim and meets all relevant international maritime regulations. Functionality is maintained throughout the design stage, from the general arrangement plan up to the final production drawings.

| Designing vessels In our experience the basis for a good design is understanding the client's ideas. These ideas together with the relevant parameters form the basis of the conceptual design. In order to bring this concept to the final design stage, a body plan is developed. The whole concept is tested by means of strength and stability calculations and, if required, sea keeping, manoeuvring and speed/power predictions. Then our skilled staff members prepare the final design within the framework of the valid rules and regulations.

| Redesigning vessels for special duties Besides the conversion of vessels to modify them and bring them up to present-day technical and economical standards, we also redesign vessels giving them a different purpose than they were originally built for. To redesign an existing vessel demands a lot of creativity from the designer. A few examples already carried out are:

| EQUIPMENT DESIGN Within the world of dredging and offshore operations? floating objects often? serve as a platform for special equipment. Mostly, these? purpose-built pieces of equipment are related to handling/lifting tasks and are specially conceived for a particular project. VER performs functional, steel structural and mechanical designs of systems like lifting frames, spud handling systems, outriggers (cutter ladders, etc.), recognizing the special requirements unique for each individual system.Given our "natural" recognition of the interaction of the systems with their floating platforms, our scope easily extends to the design of complete objects like floating sheerlegs, jack up barges, etc. To optimize the design process, VER is able to perform all required hydromechanics' and strength analyses.
