In 2000, Bonn & Mees commissioned the design and engineering of their next-generation floating sheerleg vessel, Matador 3, with a lifting capacity of 1,800 tonnes. The project was entrusted to Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam, who delivered both the basic and detail design of this powerful seagoing crane barge.
As the younger sister of Matador 2, the Matador 3 was rightly called a powerhouse. Vuyk had the honor of designing the complete lifting system, including the capability to lower the A-frame backward and the integration of a Fly Jib. Over its operational lifetime, the vessel received several upgrades to the Fly Jib, extending the crane’s hook height to 75 meters.
Vuyk continued to support Bonn & Mees with consultancy services during high-risk lift operations and offshore works, maintaining a strong and trusted relationship.
