Cormorant seagoing floating sheerleg

Project Sheerleg Multraship Cormorant (1)

In 2010 Multraship carried out a complete overhaul of the lifting appliance on the their floating sheerleg vessel Cormorant. The redesign and engineering was performed by Vuyk upgrading the system to a lifting capacity of 600 tonnes.

The A-frame, luffing portal and preventer were upgraded to a higher capacity and height. This taking into account the integration of the existing jib. To facilitate operations, a Loadmaster was made that can determine loading limitations per lift operation. Finally, a jib support was devised for passing bridges during river transport. This to a minimum draft of 9.10 meters.

Design Scope

  • Concept and detail design of lifting appliance
  • Vessel stability analysis and strengthening
